REVIEW: La Paloma is more than meets the eye. It is located in a plaza with a few other restraints and from the outside, does not look that appealing. I was really surprised when I walked in - not only because it was bigger than I thought, but also because it was decorated nicely and had a warm, inviting feel to it.
La Paloma is typically crowded so a short wait at the bar is usually in order. They serve a great margarita as well as other drinks, including a good selection of beer. They have recently expanded their bar/waiting area, which was a great improvement.
I have never been disappointed with my meals at La Paloma. I think their menu is excellent and extensive, especially with their vegetarian options. I have had many of their vegetarian entrees and loved them all. They have large portions and are willing to allow for substitutions to the menu items.
La Paloma is very reasonably priced. It is amazing how much you can get for a nominal price. La Paloma is also well-known for their Wednesday night Fajita Frenzy. I strongly recommend this!!

REVIEW: I was craving some mexican food last night (a carne asada chimichanga to be exact), and we still hadn't tried this place even though it's practically right around the corner from us.
so the boy and i checked it out last night.
there's a parking lot, which is a plus.
it wasn't full, which is important. we got a spot right in front of the restaurant.
they said the wait was 20 minutes for 2, but it ended up being like 4 minutes. we got some drinks at the bar, and before we even got a chance to pay, they were calling our name. sangria for me, and margarita for nick. both were pretty good, and very well priced. i was impressed that their drinks aren't very expensive.
i had already checked out their menu online, so i knew we had to start with the jalapeño poppers which are filled with cream cheese (the ONLY way i'll eat them!) with a side of guacamole, sour cream and salsa. i think it may have been a chipotle salsa, but it was a bit too bland, so i couldn't really tell.
the jalapeños were awesome though. would definitely get them again and again…
they give you a basket of chips & some salsa while you wait.
the chips are good, but the salsa tasted like canned tomatoes. not happy about that at all!
i ordered my steak chimichanga (which, by the way, is not on the menu, but they'll definitely make it for you if you ask them. just tell them you want it with the "fajita steak" and they'll be happy to oblige.)
and nick ordered a fajita combo with steak, chicken & carnitas, but i guess they forgot the carnitas.
both dinners come with rice and refried beans.
the chimichanga was nice & crispy and the steak was outstanding! SO good! some of the best steak i've tasted in a while.
very flavorful, and think i should only get steak next time, forget the deep fried tortilla! :)
the rice, i didn't care for, but nick liked it. (he's not used to good mexican rice like i am though, maybe that's why…)
i was happy that they actually had pinto refried beans, so even though they were a little dry at the top, they tasted pretty terrific.
the fajita combo was good too. i loved the onions. and it came with 3 flour tortillas.
we'll definitely be coming here maybe once a month.

REVIEW: This restaurant consistently serves delicious Mexican. Their salsa is wonderful- homemade with fresh tomatoes and cilantro - juicy and chunky! The tortillas are made fresh there and deep fried on the spot - crispy and authentic.
Everything is cooked to order and comes out piping hot. I have eaten there about once a month now for fives years and it's always delicious. Servers are experienced pros!
Margaritas are excellent!

"Best Mexican I've had in the metro Boston area"

REVIEW: I ordered the chili rellano as an app. and it was excellent. I had two Margaritas and they were very good, small for the price but still tasty. I got enchiladas and asked them to put a mole sauce on instead of the tomatillo that was on the menu. It was the best authentic mole sauce I've had in years. Where others usually fail they succeeded in using just the right amount of Mexican chocolate (what makes it a mole sauce) which didn't make the sauce bitter or over powering like so many other restaurants. I had flan for dessert and it was very good, although I found it odd that they put whip cream on it. Flan is Flan it doesn't need whip cream but as I said it was still very good. I ordered take out to for a Mexican friend that was at home & ill in bed. It was the chicken dish with mango salsa, it was well received and I was told it was delicious, and that's by someone from Mexico.
My waitress was AMAZING, she could answer all of my questions (a true task) about the menu and seemed to really care.
For this picky foodie (me) I can say it is some of the most authentic Mexican food I've had in years and I was very happy. Don't expect Tex-Mex prices, you are going to pay a few dollars more here for the real deal.

REVIEW: My boyfriend introduced this place to me a couple years ago. Since then its been a frequented by us and our friends. I can say that 99% of the time you will be happy with the service and the food. But get there before 6 on a weekend, the wait really can put a damper on your evening and in the winter, DON't Sit near the door.. there is a windtunnel that will just barrel down on you and your party. Stick to the Original Marghertias the jazzed up colorful ones will never have enough alcohol, and just taste like mix. Also, Carrots in Salsa? A little strange, but its original and mom and popish like it should be. Friendly waitstaff.

"La Paloma boasts savory Mexican fare!"

REVIEW: We try and visit monthly. As mentioned by the others, the salsa is good. Slightly spicy but not too herby.
The drinks are great. The food is very good, including the more traditional dinner plates. The fajitas are fantastic, that's a safe bet anytime.
One significant note is that La Paloma strives to be a little more traditional Mexican fare. They don't veer too much into Tex-Mex, fusion, Mexican gourmet, or Spanish cuisine... they strictly shoot for high quality traditional Mexican meals at reasonable prices.
It's worth a short drive. Always good for a nice and fun night out.
